Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is now making its way from the big screen to OTT. The political action drama, which arrived in theatres on July 23, 2026, is reportedly set to begin streaming on ZEE5 from August 21.

Jana Nayagan is expected to premiere on ZEE5 on August 21, 2026. The film is reportedly being prepared for release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, while a Hindi-dubbed version is expected to arrive later.
The streaming date has not yet received an official confirmation from the makers or ZEE5, so August 21 should be treated as a reported date for now. Amazon Prime Video was earlier linked to the film’s digital rights, but those discussions reportedly did not materialise.
What Is Jana Nayagan About?
Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan presents Vijay in the role of a common man whose life takes a dramatic turn after his family faces a serious injustice. His fight gradually turns into a larger battle, putting him directly against Bobby Deol’s antagonist.
The film also features Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju and Narain in important roles. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music.
The film has also attracted considerable attention because it is being promoted as Vijay’s final film before he moves his focus towards full-time politics, giving the project an added significance for his fans.

The theatrical run delivered a mixed response. While reviews and word of mouth were not particularly strong, Vijay’s massive fan following helped the film maintain momentum at the ticket window.
Jana Nayagan reportedly crossed the ₹300 crore mark worldwide and became one of the year’s biggest Tamil releases globally. However, its domestic performance remained below the extremely high expectations attached to a film positioned as Vijay’s cinematic farewell.
